Adaptive Judo
Adapted Judo for people living with disability and additional needs
Adaptive Judo is adapted Judo for people living with disability and additional needs. Seishin Martial Arts supports Tasmanians living with disability in a Judo community that is inclusive, promotes equality, embraces diversity and empowers people to reach their full potential. The club provides an innovative, fun and healthy way to develop and increase physical skills and fitness, social and community engagement for people living with a disability through Judo.
We work in a person-centred and trauma informed way, providing positive behaviour support to our students to promote emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as engagement in a safe and fun community. Judo is more than just a sport, our players develop social skills, life skills and physical skills as we offer players fun, friendship and fitness while learning a martial art.
The club works to break down barriers to sport and broaden opportunities by supporting players into the Judo community at a state, national and international level.

Ongoing adaptive classes
Adaptive Judo term classes are for students who have completed the 10-week Beginners package or equivalent at another club.
Class programs run across 10-week school terms and are focused on the needs at a physical and social level to ensure that their experience with Judo continues to be positive. This sees students continue to develop their skills in the sport as well as improve balance, motor skills, coordination, emotional regulation, focus, patience and social skills.
Class sizes slightly increase in term classes to build the skills of Judoka, but still remain small to allow individual needs and supports to be met.
