Seishin Martial Arts are one of the fastest-growing martial arts clubs in Tasmania. We provide Judo classes for children, teens, and adults from beginners through to advanced levels.

Our Classes

As well as our mainstream classes, we are the first club in Tasmania offering dedicated training in Adaptive Judo for children and adults living with disabilities and additional needs. Seishin now has one of the largest No Limits Judo teams in the country.

Mainstream Judo

Our mainstream Judo classes are open to children, teens and adults and we welcome beginners to advanced. Students focus on both grading and competition training as they work their way through standing and grappling techniques to build skills and apply them in practice.

Seishin Experience

Beth Andrews

I entered my now 11 yo Autistic son into the 12 week adaptive judo course. I was expecting not to get through it as I didn’t think he would handle the physical contact from strangers. I’m pleased to say I was so wrong! Not only did he make it but now goes every week and loves it!
It helped him to control his temper and moods and has helped with gross motor skills and confidence. Carla and Lewis are so supportive and work so well with the children making it so much fun 😊

My son absolutely loves Seishin. Carla, Lewis and the team listened to my concerns from day 1, as we had tried mainstream classes that were more geared towards neurotypical students. My son has ADHD, anxiety and sensory processing disorder. Mainstream classes at other clubs that we tried were much larger, noisier and completely overwhelming for a child who gets sensory overload. The smaller classes with more instructors makes my son more able to focus and thus his learning has gone through the roof.

Myles has been involved with Judo now for Twelve months. We decided to begin Judo to help Myles become aware of his surroundings and be able maintain some focus while learning at school. In the twelve months we and the teaching staff at his school have noticed the difference in Myles’s learning and focus within the classroom. Myles is now able to focus on tasks independently with some support and able to sit quietly on the mat with the rest of the class where he was fidgety and easily distracted prior to starting beginners 12 week course

I got to go out and have an introductory class with Seishin Martial Arts . Safe to say I’m pretty knackered today! A very good environment if you want to learn something physical that’s not being at the gym with your airpods in. Carla and Lewis are fantastic

Mitch started judo early this year and never did we expect him to want to compete and here he is today coming away with a gold medal 🥇 Thank you Seishin Martial Arts and his coaches Carla Willing and Lewis

One thing my kids have taught me is life sucks if your in your comfort zone all the time, Im always amazed how they adapt to everything they try or do in life So Monday night I did something they do every week and out of my comfort zone I involved myself in a parents judo night and kinda loved it So tonight I did my first judo class and wow wow wow I’m hooked.
